Reading about others and how they pressed in with God to find freedom to pursue their destiny was helpful for me.

Building Your Business from Heaven Down by Dr. Ron Horner
I cannot recommend these books by Ron Horner enough. God has a plan for us, the Bible says so, and these books have been most helpful in connecting God’s plans with my dreams and passions. Especially if you feel you are called to own a business, this book may be very helpful for you as well.
What Do You Really Want? by Jim Manney
Wonderful book about decision-making and discernment using the teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola. It is written in simple and clear language.
Ultimately, the problems I had in pursuing my calling were because of spiritual warfare and blockages by the enemy. Being able to discern this was an enormous help for me.
It may help you in your own process of discernment.
Don’t Shrink Your Dream! Enlarge Your Faith! by Terri Savelle-Foy
Terri Savelle-Foy is an expert at goal-setting, and this is her ministry. Her teachings have helped me to set goals for my own life. If I can identify a goal, then I can clearly ask God for help to follow those goals.
If I do not set a goal, then it is much more difficult to ask God for help. However, I used to do this, expecting God to push me forward. I see life as a partnership with God. We need to work together by setting goals and dreaming with Him. He won’t make us do anything.
Cross-cultural Servanthood by Duane Elmer
We read this book during our short mission training before I went to Japan in 2018. If you are interested in overseas mission work, this book is very practical and helpful. Jesus told His followers to bring the gospel to others, and this book gives guidance in the area of missions and the Great Commission.
Prayer, Praise & Promises by Warren W. Wiersbe
Here is a devotional that uses the Psalms to encourage and motivate.
Praise gives us revelation for anything we are going through, ushers in God’s presence, and is a catalyst for forward momentum.
Take the Land: It’s Time to Step Into Your Promise from God by Ana Werner
Ana Werner is a former missionary with amazing stories of the supernatural and she also offers courses on her website. In this book, Ana teaches how to overcome obstacles, setbacks, and challenges that might prevent you from achieving your goals.
Be You, Do Good by Jonathan David Golden
This book helped dispel the common myths that I encountered while seeking God’s purpose for my life. Also, it encourages the reader to explore the gifts and talents they have been given by God.
If you have had a lot of confusion in pursuing God’s call on your life (or you have no idea what it might be) then this book may help.
Andrew Murray is a spiritual mentor I would have liked to have on my journey, as his writings are so rich and full of wisdom. Before pursuing any “call,” absolute surrender to God is the first and most important step. God will use us as an empty vessel to reach the lost with salvation.
If we want to accomplish our biggest dreams, we must inquire of God to help us, and when we surrender to Him, we allow Him to work through us.
Unlocking the Code of the Supernatural: The Secret to God’s Power in You by Kynan Bridges
Although I have not read this book in particular, the teachings of Kynan Bridges have helped me in such great ways. This book can help you experience the supernatural in your life’s calling on earth, as God intends.
Dream: Discovering God’s Purpose for Your Life by Dutch Sheets
Dutch Sheets is a pastor, author, and revivalist. He addresses the reality that many people have lost their dreams, or they don’t know that God wants to help them pursue their dreams. God is good, and most of the time we have been given dreams by God. We can partner with Him to accomplish them!
The Mystery of God’s Will: What Does He Want For Me? by Chuck Swindoll
This book takes the pressure off of us when we think we have missed God’s purpose for us. Chuck Swindoll has an amazing teaching series on biblical characters as well.

Lastly I want to mention a downloadable audio series from Arthur Burke, called When Your Call is Blocked, which includes ministry prayers for breakthrough, as well.
